The Actor

I was excited to meet Sean last spring shortly after his graduation from Brunswick School.  Sean is one of four sons.  His youngest brother happened to be a close preschool friend of one of my sons.  Over the years, I had heard about Sean and his theater accomplishments from his Mom but had never spent any time with him.  I looked forward to getting to know him.

Often the impetus for a guy senior session is from the senior’s parent not the senior guy.  With this in mind, I make a concerted effort to ensure that the session is fun for a senior guy.  My goal is for the senior to leave feeling like the session was not a chore but rather a highlight of his senior year.

Within a few minutes of meeting Sean, it was clear that we would have a great session.  Sean chose to Brunswick School as his location.  It was a very warm June morning but we did not let the heat get in our way.  Sean knew his school’s campus like the back of his hand, and we explored all the great spots.  I heard about Sean’s many theater productions during his high school years and his plans for the future.  Sean planned to attend UCONN in the fall and double major in drama arts and English.  I was so impressed to hear about his college application process which centered on a nerve-wracking audition at UCONN in addition to all the normal and onerous application requirements of a college application.  Of course we had to visit the theater at his school where I joked with Sean that I was taking his first official headshot.  Not surprisingly, Sean’s skills as an actor were evident from the many different facial expressions and moods he was able to project during the session.  He needed very little direction.  He will make an amazing actor.

Sean was such an interesting young man to spend time with.  He clearly has so much talent.  I was impressed by his maturity and drive.   I hope to get some credit when he wins his first Academy Award for taking these first professional images of him.  Break a leg Sean!
